Joana Rocha Pauleta, MD, and colleagues conducted research on the activities of the pregnant woman about her pregnancy. They conducted a survey of 188 women who had just given birth at a hospital. The women who made these respondents live a healthy pregnancy and risk free. This is the result of research conducted on women aged between 17-40 years old:

   5. Approximately 39 percent of women said they felt the same sex drive as before they become pregnant. While a third of the women felt no sebergairah before pregnancy.
   6. Half of the respondents said that sex during pregnancy as great before they become pregnant. While 28 percent said not too satisfactory.
   7. As many as 41.5 percent of the women said they felt no longer as attractive or sesensual before pregnancy. However, 75 percent of the women do not feel unwanted, meaning they feel their husbands are still receiving them.
   8. About three-quarters of respondents said they did not experience sexual problems, the rest felt experience. Pauleta and his colleagues say, this problem is related to the cultural background of the women. In Pakistan and Nigeria, the women believe that intercourse during pregnancy can help to widen the vagina and ease of exit of the baby. While in Iran, most women believe that sex during pregnancy can make baby blind or damage the hymen infant child (if female).
Irwin Goldstein, MD, director of the sexuality in San Diego's Alvarado Hospital, said, "Having sexual intercourse would not have a negative impact on pregnancy. However, many couples feel uncomfortable pregnant wife having sex for fear of hurting her baby. This is a false vision and need to be taught further. "
